On this page you will find a pair of example case studies centered on the
deployment of voice dictation software and technology in two different styles of
business or practices. These studies are only examples, but they are based
on real world sales and deployment situations we at Crown have worked on in the
past with our clients.
Study #1
Gage County Medical Clinic located in Beatrice, Nebraska has six
physicians engaged in family practice. They first started using IBM ViaVoice,
our Family Practice vocabulary and a copy of "How to Master IBM
ViaVoice" several versions ago with just two of their doctors. As new
versions of ViaVoice have been released they have upgraded and added in more of
their physicians.
Recently the last of the six doctors was given a new laptop computer with the
latest version of IBM ViaVoice (release 10 revision B Pro USB) and has started
dictating his medical reports. Medical practices can improve the quality
of their medical records and reduce or eliminate transcription costs. With
better documentation, you can get paid for all the work that you do when you
submit your claims to CMS and insurance companies.

Study #2
A Program Director at the National Science Foundation in Arlington,
Virginia was suffering from a repetitive stress injury. As a federal employee
she is covered under Section 508 of the Rehab Act. The U.S. government has a
program administered by the Department of Defense TRICARE (CAP) that will
provide training and speech recognition software to disabled employees.
Both IBM ViaVoice and Dragon NaturallySpeaking are authorized for use with this
program. Crown International was hired to provide the software and
training for this person on site at the National Science Foundation Headquarters
in Arlington. In a letter from the Division Secretary we were informed that she
was very pleased with her training.
Crown International has provided Section 508 training to several other
federal employees around the country. Additionally, non government employees may
be covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act in which the employer may
be required to provide reasonable accommodation in the form of hardware,
software and training for physically disabled workers.
